General & booking
What is the difference between the BergwaldLodges and the BergwaldChalets?
The BergwaldLodges “Blickfang” and “Einklang” are two detached log houses of 170 m² each, with three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a Finnish sauna for up to 6 people and a 60 m² panoramic terrace – ideal for families and groups of up to 6. The BergwaldChalets are about 300 m away, were completed in 2022 and are semi-detached houses of 90 to 110 m² with two bedrooms, two bathrooms and their own sauna for up to 5 people. They come in three versions: Komfort, Tierfreund (with dog) and Wellness (with private spa).
How much does a night cost?
The BergwaldLodges start at €210 per night (up to 4 guests), Chalets Komfort and Tierfreund at €140 and Chalets Wellness at €170 per night (each up to 2 guests). Each additional guest costs €25 per night. Final cleaning, tourist tax and utilities are added. Different prices apply at Christmas and New Year. Our booking system shows the exact price for your dates.
What is the best way to book?
The easiest way is online through our booking system (RoomRaccoon): choose your dates, see which lodges and chalets are available and book. If you book directly with us rather than through a portal, you can also benefit from our returning-guest discount and the “refer a friend” offer. If you would like to fill a short gap or run into technical problems, just write to us and we will book for you manually.
Is there a minimum stay?
Yes, depending on the season. Outside school holidays the minimum stay is usually 3 to 5 nights; in the holidays and peak season we may only rent by the week. Shorter stays in gaps or for bookings within 2 weeks of arrival are possible on request.
When can I arrive and when do I need to leave?
The house is available from 4 pm on the day of arrival and until 10 am on the day of departure. Other times are possible in exceptional cases if arranged by phone.
Are dogs allowed?
Dogs are only allowed in the BergwaldChalets Tierfreund. The surcharge is €25 per dog per night (maximum 2 dogs). We provide food and water bowls. All other houses are pet-free and therefore also suitable for allergy sufferers.
Are bed linen and towels included?
Yes. One linen pack per person (sheet, duvet and pillow cover, hand towel and bath towel) is included. Bathrobes and sauna towels are not provided, so please bring your own. You will need your own bedding for the travel cot.
Does every house have its own sauna?
Yes. Every lodge and every chalet has its own Finnish sauna. In the lodges it seats up to 6 people on two levels; in Chalets Wellness it is part of a separate spa area with glass front, rest room, sauna terrace and a third shower.
Can I charge my electric car?
At the BergwaldChalets, every chalet has a parking space with an EV charger (wallbox). You pay for the electricity you actually use, measured by a separate meter. At the lodges there is plenty of free parking behind the houses.
Are the houses suitable for children?
Very much so. Every house has a high chair, a travel cot and a stair gate. Please note: children aged one and over count as a full person.
How do I get to the houses in winter?
Schierke lies at the foot of the Brocken. Despite snow clearing, there may be disruption in winter, so winter tyres are essential. Fresh snow on the property has to be cleared by guests.
What is #heiermann4future?
Our own climate project: for every night booked we donate €5 (€10 at Christmas and New Year) to buy and plant broadleaf trees in the Harz. Every guest takes part automatically.
BergwaldLodges
How many people fit in a BergwaldLodge?
With three bedrooms (double beds 1.80 × 2.00 m), each lodge sleeps 6. Lodge Einklang also has a gallery with a sofa bed (1.40 m). The base price covers up to 4 guests; each additional guest costs €25 per night.
How do Blickfang and Einklang differ?
Apart from the colours and the dining furniture, they are furnished almost identically. “Einklang” also has a gallery with an additional sofa bed – during the day a perfect spot for a good book.
How much is the final cleaning in the lodges?
Final cleaning costs a one-off €149 per stay, including one set of bed linen and towels per guest. On top of that there is €4 for parking and a €5 sauna cleaning fee. Gas, electricity and water are charged by consumption.
Is there parking and room for bikes?
Yes. Free parking is behind the lodges by the storerooms. The lockable bike garage holds up to 4 bikes or your ski equipment.
Is there a restaurant nearby?
Just below the lodges, only about 100 m away, is the Italian restaurant “Montevino Vin’Osteria”. A bakery, supermarket and other restaurants are within walking distance.
BergwaldChalets
Which chalet suits me?
Chalets Komfort (90 m², up to 5 people) are the classic choice for couples and families. Chalets Tierfreund (90 m², up to 4 people) are set up for holidays with a dog. Chalets Wellness (110 m², up to 5 people) are on the most natural edge of the plot and have a private spa area with panoramic sauna, rest room and sauna terrace.
How many chalets are there?
Eight in total: two Chalets Komfort, two Chalets Tierfreund and four Chalets Wellness. The semi-detached halves are separated by a soundproof firewall, and on the terrace also by a storeroom.
How are the sauna and EV charger billed?
The electricity actually used by the sauna and charging point is recorded by a separate meter (€0.40/kWh) and offset against the deposit. All other utilities for electricity, water and heating are included in the rental price.
What do the shared facilities include?
All chalet guests share a secure room for bikes and skis, a small bike workshop and the fire pit in the garden.
How far is it from the chalets to the lodges?
The BergwaldChalets are at Alte Wernigeröder Straße 8, about 300 m from the lodges – ideal if you want to combine a lodge and chalets for a larger group.
